the joy of junk food

It’s not easy being junk food.  You’re bad for everyone, even if you are delicious, and they know it.  It’s not easy advertising the stuff either.  Everyone is pretty clued up that it should be avoided and beyond saying ‘it tastes nice’, there isn’t much to say at all.  And then a strange thing happened.  Junk food became a weird psuedo-lifestyle brand with ads.  Chocolate, Cadbury’s no less would bring you joy, Coke would bring you happiness and McDonald’s, well they’d bring you a huge red box (and also happiness).

I have to admit that I really like some of these ads.  Sure, they’re probably morally questionable and I wouldn’t be surprised to see junk food ads go the way of the dinosaur (and cigarette ads).  While they’re here you/I/we may as well enjoy them.  If nothing else the mammoth budgets backing them means we’re getting fun and light, slickly produced ads.  Just don’t get sucked in, you hear?

This is mostly great because I love the idea of these boxes been permanent fixtures or at least long term ambient ads.  The high sheen water box is particularly exciting.  Imagine the instagrams.

Another cool ambient to viral/video ad.  I have to warn Coca Cola that if I ever stumble across a happiness machine I will die from overexcitement.  You have been warned.

This one is just plain cool.   Sweet production values too.
